Gator Dash FAQs

1. What is the Gator Dash?

The Dash is a week-long fundraiser. The Dash kicks off with a pep rally for the kids and concludes with a fun run, with a lot of fun rewards in between.  Families and friends make donations towards their students' fun run.

It is important to know this fun run is much more than a typical “run.” Students have a blast with their friends as each turn around a small loop is more fun than the last. A DJ leads the students in skipping, dancing and hopping around a small loop with their friends!

2. How can parents register their student(s)?

Parents will sign up their students via a link that will be provided closer to the event.

3. How do students get donations?

Parents help connect students to sponsors by sharing their donation link on social media, through email or text messages. Sponsors enter and make donations online through the student’s personal donation link created when the child is registered.

4. Can I donate with cash or a check?

Cash or check donations can be sent in through your student's donation envelope. Checks can be made out to Addison Elementary School Foundation. Dash donation envelopes will be provided to each student.

5. How do students receive classroom rewards?

Individual classrooms receive rewards as they reach targets in their fundraising efforts. Past examples include extended recess with popsicles, a silly string fight, a karaoke glow party and mummifying their teacher.

Each morning throughout the weeklong event, Foundation volunteers are at the school before the students arrive preparing to deliver the rewards classrooms have earned at the start of each day.

6. Does my child get a reward even if my family is unable to contribute financially?

Yes! Prizes are earned as a class, students are not aware of who has donated within a particular classroom. In addition, each morning begins with a student bonding experience as positive affirmations are given for a handful of students. By the end of the week each child will have received praise from their classmates regardless of whether or not they were able to donate.

7. Where and when will the Dash occur?

Please see the school calendar and/or AESF’s home page for updates. You are welcome to attend the day of the event to watch your child participate.

8. How will I hear how the Dash is going?

Be on the lookout for daily communication throughout the event via CTLS and our social media.
